Brunei update!!!

Just a quick update. I’ve already informed HR that I’m willing to be transferred to Brunei. HR will convey the info to my management for discussion, whether they are willing to send me off. Why must they discuss about it? That’s because I’m also the server and network troubleshooter, I’m kind of important for the office to keep the link up and running in a jiffy when there is a problem. We rely on our server to do work. Lost of network uptime means lost of time and money. Well that’s what I think they view me. I am after all a computer geek. I just want a change of environment.

Brunei anyone?

Last week my boss called us engineers up to one of the director’s room to have a short discussion. It was about the current economy situation which has affected by current US market. There are a lot of us engineers (I counted about more than 10 of us in that room) and there’s not much new project here in Sabah. But the company branch over in Brunei has a lot of project in hand but they are short of engineer. Who would want to volunteer? There would be a salary increase, allowance, house and car provided. Any takers?

 

I must admit it did spark some interest in me. Salary increase is a good incentive, plus I’d be paid in Brunei currency. Would that be enough? Should I say yes to this, I would have to stay there for a minimum of 3 years. There must be more than what was promised to us? So begin my quest to satisfy my curiosity.
