Netbook for The Man

The Man had come to me and asked me about my old laptop. I told him the mainboard plastic thingy with lots of electronic stuff, 20 times more that the one his holding; I’m talking about his handphone, was busted and the service centre told me that it would cost roughly about RM700 to fixed it. The Man was thinking to use it to learn using a computer. I told The Man adding a few hundreds we can get a new one, Netbook that is.

Remember when I said I wanted to get a Mac? I was planning to get it when I have enough stash under my pillow, probably somewhere middle of this year. But through the sheer power of the universe, I’m proud to say that I have been “Mac”atized last week. Yeap, earlier than anticipated. So I’m a Mac, and Linux, but not a PC user.

I have a laptop which I acquire back in Dec 2003. It’s an Acer Aspire 2001. During those period of time, I brought it with me wherever I may roam, be it business or pleasure. During those period of time, I have changed the hard drive twice, upgraded the RAM, repaired the hinges (is it me or it have a hinge problem which cost me RM260 to replace it) and formatted it twice.

For those who are a Trekker, add a Scottish ascent to the phrase above and you get Scotty, Chief Engineer of the Starship Enterprise. Loved that series hehehe… To the most of the starship crew, he is a miracle worker; always manage to do the impossible when it comes to Enterprise.
When it comes to our computer, we can’t really shout “Scotty! I need power!” or in our case, “Scotty! I need more RAM!” down to our computer. For starters, people might think you’ve burned a fuse or if you’re at work, the stress has gotten into you. Secondly, I don’t recall any device or chip or whatever inside your computer that is named after that famous character; I did found Scotty’s Computer System Services in the Internet though. And if he is a real person, it would be hilarious, he speaks to them computer. Don’t trust me, see it for yourself.
